Lamb in the pot

1 portion, calories: 820
Cooking time: 60 minutes

Portions: 5-6

1 kilo of lamb, top side
5 very ripe tomatoes
½ cup of oil or butter
½ kilo of barley-shaped pasta
Grated cheese
Salt
Pepper

 

Cut the lamb into serving portions, wash it and place it in a roasting tin or, even better, in an earthernware pot. Add salt and peppers and the skinned crushed tomatoes, ___ oil and a little water and allow to bake on a moderate oven.
When the lamb is almost done, pour in __ cups of hot water and add the pasta. Add salt and stir. Allow the meat to finish in a moderate oven, turning it once or twice.
To be served with grated cheese.

Variation: 1. The meat can be put into five or six individual earthernware pots and the pasta cooked separate.
2. Veal can be used instead of lamb.
